- The Imperial Rooster will be playing at El Farol in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on May 10 at 6 PM MST and the set will be broadcast live on Radio Free Santa Fe. Tune in locally at 98.1 or via the Radio Free Santa Fe website.
- New York label Bang Bang Boogaloo has put together a killer compilation of unsigned New York bands called New York Rock & Roll 1. You can listen to and download it for free on their website.
- Big Boi revealed, via Twitter, that he’s working on an album with Modest Mouse. “Been camped out in the Lab with Modest Mouse all week, workin on the new mouse LP, coolest cats ever. Long Live The Funk.” Cannot wait to hear the results of that collaboration.
- Both Craig Wedren and the Twilight Singers are offering new songs for free download. Wedren’s “Cupid” is a Shudder to Think-era tune re-purposed for his upcoming solo album, WAND. The Twilight Singers’ “Don’t Call” is a non-album track, as well as being a Desire cover.
- Wolfgang’s Vault has added a video section to their mammoth live music archives. While you’ll find the old stand-bys you’d expect from WV – the Rolling Stones, the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers Band – you’ll also find some NTSIB favorites like A Place to Bury Strangers, the Builders and the Butchers and even the Gutter Twins. Worth a dig.

- The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival is already in swing this week. The festival caps off on Saturday with a De La Soul show.
- Big Boi’s long-awaited solo joint, Sir Lucius Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty, is out today, and you can download an official mixtape from his website.
- Local Natives played some songs for The Interface. Check it.

- Crook & Flail, the curators of the Alan Moore Unearthing box set, are offering a mix of their influences for the project which includes, Kraftwerk, Mike Patton, Mogwai and numerous others.
- Justine Townes Earle’s new album, Harlem River Blues, will be released September 14, and JTE made a cameo with his dad, Steve Earle, on Treme, which you can watch here (no spoilers).
- The fine fellows at Citizen Dick have posted a couple of videos from A.A. Bondy’s recent performance at the Northside Fest in Brooklyn.

- Tickets for Daytrotter’s Barn on the 4th of July show are on sale now. There is a top secret headliner they’re keeping under wraps, but the announced bands are already provide more than enough excitement: Justin Townes Earle, Dawes, Johnny Corndawg and Young Man.
- Maximum Balloon is the new project from TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, and you can hear the song “Tiger” at the Maximum Balloon website.
- Pitchfork reports that Alan Moore is now out of the Gorillaz opera project due to scheduling discrepancies. Update: It seems “scheduling discrepancies” was a euphemism for “You didn’t scratch my back, so I’m not scratching yours”.
- If you’re in the Brooklyn area Friday, you should go to the Suckers’ record release party. You really should.
- The Flaming Lips have a video for badass tune “The Sparrow Looks Up at the Machine”. So. Much. Blood.
- The Black Keys do some live in-studio performances and an interview for the Interface at Spinner. Putting TBK in an antiseptic studio with no audience is antithetical, but “Next Girl” is still nice ‘n’ dirty.

- Because it’s Cadillac Sky Week here at NTSIB, we have to kick this off by reminding you that their excellent album Letters in the Deep is available NOW. Get it.
- Hypetrak has a Big Boi song for you to hear and enjoy that re-teams BB with Andre 3000, along with Dungeon Family cohort Sleepy Brown, but which may not appear on Big Boi’s solo joint coming next month due to apparent record label bullshit.
- Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell are teaming up yet again. Their third collaboration, Hawk, will be released on August 24 with U.S. tour dates in the works.
- At the time of this writing, there are 18 hours left to help fund the Juniper Tar tour documentary. They have some pretty nifty reward levels, including a private house concert for big-bucks donors in the Milwaukee area.
- Aquarium Drunkard’s forthcoming (June 22) digital compilation, L’Aventure, a collection of covers from Television’s album Adventure will feature Local Natives doing “Careful”. Hear it here.
- Lou Barlow has recorded an EP with the missingmen, =Sentridoh III, and Pitchfork has the sweet track “Losercore” available for listening.
- One of the nicest things you could do for yourself this week would be to head over to Spinner and take a listen (or twenty) to the new Suckers’ album Wild Smile.
Bits: Lolla’10, Yuri’s Night, Lou Barlow tour, TBK in NYC2, new Big Boi jam
- While we don’t post too many festival line-ups unless A.A. Bondy or the Felice Brothers are involved (we play favorites, we admit it), the Lollapalooza 2010 line-up is pretty great. Standouts for us: Jimmy Cliff, the Black Keys, Cypress Hill (we saw them on a previous Lolla go-’round, and they had one of the best sets of the day), Mavis Staples, Mumford & Sons, Dawes and Royal Bangs. It’ll be a something-for-everyone weekend.
- If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, you should be getting tickets for Yuri’s Night at the NASA Ames Research Center this Saturday because the entertainment lineup is straight-up awesome. Les Claypool, The Black Keys, Common, N.E.R.D. and more. We ain’t got nothing like that going for the CLE celebration.
- Lou Barlow will be touring with Mike Watt’s missingmen, though sans Watt, in June.
- After the quick sell-out of the Black Keys’ upcoming Summerstage show, a second date has been added. Go get you some, NYC.
- Pitchfork has a new Big Boi track, “Shutterbugg”, for you to listen to. BB has signed with Def Jam, so his solo album should finally see the light of day.
If it was possible to have carnal relations with music, while we would have a steady conjugal visiting schedule with the entire Black Keys catalogue, we would also have a tawdry affair with Lou Barlow’s “Gravitate”.
